Martedì 17 settembre, ho avuto la fortuna di partecipare a Roma, al caffè letterario Horafelix, in via Reggio Emilia, alla presentazione del libro di Danilo D’Angelo “Un libro di scuola”, e a presentarlo c’erano, oltre all’autore, che avevo conosciuto su Telegram, niente meno che Enzo Pennetta e Giulietto Chiesa. Ho ascoltato con interesse tutti e tre gli interventi, ho rielaborato quello che ho raccolto e, coerentemente con il mio modo di pensare, ho realizzato una concezione della scuola e dell’educazione, ma anche della politica, che mi è stato data la possibilità di condividere con un intervento alla fine della presentazione (per chi lo volesse sentire vada a 1h14:50 del video) e qui vorrei riprendere il discorso che è scaturito dalla ulteriore definizione della mia considerazione.

In generale, la scuola, rispetto agli studenti o allievi, si dovrebbe porre tre obiettivi fondamentali:

(1) deve dare delle conoscenze complete, ovvero deve fornire dei contenuti conoscitivi veri, o quanto meno affidabili, e quanto più completi possibile, necessari come punto di partenza essenziale di qualsiasi preparazione teorica, oltre che fondamento della competenze pratiche (le conoscenze corrispondono a un tipo di cultura, la cultura quantitativa, che io chiamo anche cultura orizzontale);

(2) deve insegnare a fare delle interpretazioni coerenti, ovvero deve mettere gli studenti nelle condizioni di dare alle conoscenze apprese dei significati logicamente validi, sapendo andare eventualmente oltre le apparenze potenzialmente ingannevoli (le interpretazioni sono frutto dei ragionamenti, cioè del modo di pensare, un tipo di cultura qualitativa che indico come cultura verticale);

(3) deve promuovere una loro formazione gratificante, ovvero deve permettere loro di riconoscere le proprie attitudini e le proprie preferenze per poi investire le energie in quelle direzioni, quelle che gratificano gli individui permettendo di rendere al meglio, a tutto vantaggio della qualità della comunità ristretta ed estesa in cui sono inseriti come cittadini-lavoratori.

Tutti e tre gli obiettivi sono in qualche maniera connessi con l’obiettivo che sta al di sopra di tutti, cioè l’educazione, una educazione che quindi si realizza attraverso delle conoscenze complete, dei modi di ragionare coerenti e un percorso formativo su misura dell’individuo.

Ora, mentre prima dell’avvento di Internet la scuola era l’artefice principale di tutti e tre i compiti (conoscitivo, cognitivo e formativo), con l’arrivo della rete la scuola ha mantenuto una posizione di primo piano ma deve fare i conti con degli studenti che hanno a che fare con una mole di informazioni extra-scolastiche largamente superiore rispetto al passato, filtrate attraverso delle interpretazioni più o meno coerenti, con degli scambi e delle opportunità formative molto maggiori rispetto a prima, per cui la scuola deve accettare la sfida di educare studenti rendendoli preparati e consapevoli, determinati nelle loro scelte e gratificati per quello che fanno, deve aiutare studenti e famiglie molto più di quanto facesse in passato. E ad aggiornare la scuola con i tempi che corrono, a realizzare questo adattamento sono i politici, che possono dare o meno alla scuola questi compiti così delicati nella determinazione della qualità di quelli che un giorno saranno cittadini, il che impone che i politici stessi siano dotati di una consapevolezza che li spinga ad anteporre gli interessi collettivi rispetto agli interessi individuali propri o del partito di appartenenza.

Da quello che è emerso dalla presentazione del libro di Danilo D’Angelo, le parole dello stesso Danilo D’Angelo, di Enzo Pennetta e di Giulietto Chiesa dipingono un quadro, scolastico e politico, decisamente scoraggiante e i risultati sono sotto gli occhi di tutti, con novità che però peggiorano piuttosto che migliorare la qualità dell’insegnamento, tra cui un impoverimento dei programmi o un cambiamento delle modalità degli esami, il tutto per creare dei cittadini servi, come ha detto Enzo Pennetta, oppure con l’idea di applicare un modello che renda i futuri cittadini controllabili, conquistando le scuole dei vari gradi fino alle università mettendo gli uomini giusti nei posti giusti, di modo tale da ripristinare una gerarchia del sapere, un modello attualmente prevalente nel mondo capitalistico occidentale, come ha invece testimoniato Giulietto Chiesa.

Ciò che occorre quindi, per poter avere una scuola veramente al passo con i tempi, è una classe politica consapevole e dotata di qualità che le permettano di riformare il sistema scolastico italiano mettendo al centro gli interessi degli studenti perché come uno studente mediocre oggi è il punto di partenza di un cittadino ignorante, frustrato e in alcuni casi delinquente domani, uno studente colto, preparato e gratificato di oggi ha più probabilità di diventare un cittadino onesto, un lavoratore efficiente e un elettore consapevole. Non posso credere che i nostri politici non condividano questi obiettivi che devono essere alla base dei loro programmi.
